The armrests are what sold us. Each one swings out through five positions, from a normal 90 degrees all the way to flat at 180, and folding them out turns the seat into a 24.8-inch-wide cushion with nothing in the way of your knees. That combination — a genuinely wide seat plus arms that get out of it — is the whole trick to sitting cross-legged at a desk, and this chair handles it better than anything else in this group.
The seat runs 19.7 inches deep over memory foam on an engineered-wood base, and the foam is dense rather than squishy. We noticed that on longer sessions: your ankles don't press into a hard front edge after an hour with your legs folded, and you don't sink toward the frame either. It sits like an upholstered dining chair more than a beanbag, which is what you want when the chair is under you for a full workday.
Build quality is the other reason it takes the top spot. The frame is stainless steel with a 330-pound rating, the highest here among the desk chairs, and the PU leather is rated waterproof and scratch-resistant, so coffee, cat hair, and a pen mark all come off with a damp cloth. At 40.8 pounds it's heavier than the armless picks, and ours has stayed at one desk rather than moving between rooms.
One thing to check before ordering: the chair stands 36.4 inches tall overall and the back doesn't fold, so measure the clearance under your desk if you like to push the chair all the way in.
Pros
- Armrests swing flat to open the seat
- Widest seat among the desk chairs here
- 330-pound rating on a stainless frame
- PU leather wipes clean around pets
Cons
- Mid-height back leaves the lumbar area thin
We recommend it as the best all-around cross-legged chair: a 24.8-inch seat, armrests that swing completely clear, and a 330-pound rating that makes it a real primary desk chair.
