IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810H share a single line on the Active8 Pro's spec sheet, and that line is where we started when we sorted this group. What puts it ahead is everything behind the housing: a MediaTek Helio G99, 256GB of storage with room for a 1TB card, and a 22,000 mAh battery that is the biggest of any tablet here. Two rivals match the rugged ratings. Neither matches the chip or the capacity.
Weight is the surprise. At 2.2 pounds it comes in lighter than the ORCATAB and the AGM despite carrying more battery, though it is still a two-hand device. The built-in handle helped more than we expected when moving between a truck and a job site, and the 10.36-inch 1200 x 2000 display is the sharpest of the fully rated picks. We also noticed the G99's headroom: mapping, a browser and a form app at once did not produce the stall we have come to expect from the T606 tablets in this set.
Read the memory figure the way the hardware reads it. The 24GB on the box is 8GB of physical RAM plus 16GB of virtual swap, so plan on 8GB. The supplied stylus marked the pre-applied screen film in our use; peel it and fit glass if that sort of thing bothers you. Coverage runs two years, which is a fair match for a tablet that will get knocked around.
Pros
- Full IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810H ratings
- 22,000 mAh is the largest battery in this group
- Helio G99 outruns the T606 chips here
- Two-year manufacturer warranty
Cons
- 24GB RAM is 8GB physical plus 16GB virtual
- Supplied stylus can mark the screen film
For most field work this is the tablet we recommend: full IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810H ratings, the fastest chip here, and the largest battery in the group.
